Not at this point in his career...no
Unfortunately drafts like these are inherently slow, but I did hope people would have been a bit more active during this time frame.

A-Rod is still a top 3 fantasy guy, but yeah, I'm on this site 5-10 times a day (which means I have no life, lol) But oh well, just leaves more good players for me to take!!!

I meant not drafted in real life. I am asking if the rule applies to all foreign born players or if it only applies to guys like Chapman who are foreign born pros who were not drafted in the real draft.

My understanding of the rule is that it applies to any foreign born player in his first season after signing with his MLB franchise be it MLB or MiLB, so whether he was drafted or not doesn't really matter.

My understanding of the rule is that it applies to any foreign born player in his first season after signing with his MLB franchise be it MLB or MiLB, so whether he was drafted or not doesn't really matter. We have been breaking that rule constantly; if that were the case Stalin Castro is an invalid pick since he was born in D.R. This rule needs to be changed to that it doesn't apply to guys like him who were drafted and only apply to gets like Chapman or Matsui when he came over, guys who signed as free agents.

I was under the impression it was, as the NYM GM said, guys who have not played any baseball for their respective teams. A lot of the defectors or international signees play fall league for their team, and they should be eligible for the MiLB draft, but those like Chapman who are signed after the entire season is over should not count.
As for the Starlin Castro situation, he was signed in 2006, so he has played a few years in the minors.

I believe that was my point, although maybe I didn't word it right. We have never considered Winter ball types as having played for their teams yet.
As KC says, since Castro has played in the Minors already, then after his first season in the minors he became eligible for that next season's draft.
I don't know of any others where we have broken the rule "constantly" or at all.
We can certainly discuss changing it in the future, but not mid draft.

If you read the rule Mets it said you can not take foreign born player in his first season after signing with his MLB franchise Castro has been in the Cubs organization since October 2006. Most players like Castro and Chapman are signed as free agents and not drafted in First year major league draft most if not all players taken are high school players or collage players

Ok, I get what you're all saying. My major question is: is a player taken in the most recent real MLB draft that was born internationally eligible? or are we barring that?

That player would be ineligible in the MiLB draft, but you could take him in the MLB where he would have to stay on your MLB roster for the 1st month of the season.
