This is a quote from NYM's owner's IR roster idea:
"Would anyone like to implement an IR? Allowing you to stash an injured player for the year without having a roster spot used. The catch would be that if a player is on the IR you can't take them off of it for the entire season regardless of their eligibility. Only players with real injuries would be available and to control abuse of this players need to miss a minimum of a month of playing time while on your roster to be eligible. This would be to prevent someone from snatching up a guy they noticed was out for a month and they want to take a look at the following year."
I would like to see some discussion regrading this rule change

I don't like it. We already have three DL spots and a very deep bench. An IR spot is completely unnecessary in my mind. Owners will have to decide whether or not they can afford to hang onto a player if he is injured for most or all of the season. In the worst case, our FA pool is teeming with talent and a watchful eye will have no problem finding an adequate replacement player.
I can see why he would bring that up given his situation last season, but situations like the Mets last year where seemingly every player got hurt are extremely rare. We don't need a new rule and an IR spot to prepare someone for a horribly unlucky and rare occurrence.

I'm not big on this change either. I think what we have as far as DLs should be enough.

I agree with everyone else. If we had an IR spot and someone wanted to keep a player who was out for a significant period of time, there isn't much of a sacrifice, since the player isn't really taking up a roster spot. The way we have it now, owners must decide if the player is really worth taking up a roster spot for a whole year with no production. It is a more difficult decision. This way, people wouldn't just be stashing talented, injured players on their roster with no consequence. Let a bottom feeding team take a chance on this type of player, instead of everyone being able to store a good, injured player on their roster.

Yeah even after re-reading my own stuff I voted against it

Okay...I would say this issue is closed with the poll results. There will be no changing of the DL/IR spots.
